Enjoy the mountains safely

Weather in Ireland can change quickly, especially on high ground. Before you set out on the Cooley Mountains or the Táin Way:

  • Check the local forecast and tell someone your route and return time.
  • Wear layers, a waterproof jacket and sturdy boots with ankle support.
  • Carry a map and compass or GPS, a charged phone, water and snacks.
  • Leave no trace: take all litter home and respect wildlife and farmland.
