Tús is a community work placement scheme providing short-term working opportunities for unemployed people over a 12-month period, at 19.5 hours per week.
Funded by the Department of Social Protection
The Tús initiative is managed by Local Development Companies and Údarás na Gaeltachta for the Department of Social Protection, which has overall responsibility for the scheme. Work opportunities benefit the community and are provided by community and voluntary organisations in both urban and rural areas.
To take part in Tús you must:
If you are getting JA and have had breaks of up to 30 days in your record over the last 12 months, you may still be eligible. If you need childcare to take part, you may be eligible for the National Childcare Scheme.
Tidy Towns groups, football and rugby clubs, residential estates.
Office administration, reception, front of house, telephone support.
Charity shops across the county.
Community centres, halls and sports clubs.
Key holding, general maintenance, room set-up.
Preparing and cooking meals in the community.
